EFFECTS OF STRESS ON THE BODY

"Recognizing our habits is the first step toward alleviating yourself from them.”   Louise Hay

Stress is a normal part of life.  Many events happening to or around you put stress on the body.  You can experience stress from your environment, your body and your thoughts.  Stress that continues without relief or relaxation leads to distress.  Distress can lead to physical symptoms including headaches, upset stomach, depression/anxiety, elevated blood pressure, chest pains and insomnia to name a few.  Research suggests that stress can also bring on or worsen existing conditions already present.

You can’t eliminate all stress from your life, but you can use tools to better manage it.  One of the many benefits of Yoga is that it relieves stress and helps you relax through breathing techniques, meditation and postures which strengthen and stretch the body.  The focus of Yoga is improving your physical and mental health while helping to deepen your understanding of the importance of the mind/body connection.
